How it Works!
Professional Rat Exterminator for your Homes & Business
“Always Hire a Licensed Rat Exterminator”

Free Inspection
We always recommend a free inspection before starting any rodent control plan, our licensed rat exterminator inspector will draft a diagram of your home or business, then identify all rodent access points. Upon completion of the inspection you will be presented with a quote to rat proof the structure and trap all rats.

Rat Proof Structure
Rat proofing your home or business is the best way to stop rats from getting in to the structure. We will seal all rat entry points using construction grade materials that are strong enough to stop rats. We concentrate on making sure rats can’t get past our repairs and that each repair looks good.

Quickly Trap All Rats
After your home or business has been rat proofed, any rats inside will not be able to get out, so we must install rat traps in key locations to quickly trap and remove them. We will return by appointment to service the rat traps until all rats have been removed.
Rat Exterminator in Los Angeles
As a licensed professional rat exterminator for over 37 years working in Los Angeles, I have seen almost all scenarios of rodent infestations inside homes, business and even on the exterior of structures. I have seen situations where a person simply left their front door open for 10 minutes and a rat just walks in and then gets trapped inside, to the extreme where the homeowner is feeding and raising the rats like they were their pets. Now the latter is rare, but it does happen.
Rodent Entry Points into the Structure
Most of the time it’s a situation where the home has a broken foundation vent or an old pipe hole and a wondering rat walking by discovers the opening and then exploits it and makes their way into the structure. Once the rat has found the random hole or access into the home, it’s usually there to stay, the rodent will use that hole to leave at night for food then return to their nest in your attic space.

Rats Living in the Attic Space
When a rat has made its way into the home it will eventually make its way to the attic space, the way a rat finds a pathway to the attic space is through the walls in the kitchen and bathrooms, these walls have pipes running through them from the sub-area to the attic. Rats use these pipes as ladders to climb up and down. Rodents love the attic space of your home because the attic provides shelter from the elements and predators and your attic is a warm, dark area, perfect to build a nest and raise their young.
Rodents Carry Rat Fleas & Tropical Rat Mites
Fleas and rat mites are small insects that feed on host animals to obtain a blood meal, but only a certain amount of these parasite insect can live on a rat at any given time, so when the flea or rat mite are not on the animal, they are living in the nest of the rat. At any given time approximately 5 percent of the total flea or rat mite population is ever on the animal feeding on blood, and the rest are either in the nest of the rat or in other parts of your attic space.
Rat Flea

The Rat flea is like the normal flea you may find on your cat or dog, but this flea prefers rodents because they readily feed off the young rats while still in the nest. Rat fleas will gladly feed off you and your pet to obtain a free blood meal.
Tropical Rat Mite

The tropical rat mite is a small insect that is very difficult to see with the naked eye and kind of looks like a spider. This parasite is the most common insect parasite found on rodents and are easily transferred from rodent to rodent and will attack humans for a blood meal
Rat Mites and Fleas Need Blood for Food
When the rodent leaves the nest and goes looking for food they may not come back to the nest because the rat was killed outside by a predator or some other reason, but if the rat does not return to the nest the rat mites and fleas will get hungry and then begin to migrate away from the nest looking for a blood meal.

What Happens When Rodent Parasites Leave the Nest?
Because the rodent did not return to the nest, the parasites begin to search out other sources of food, during their migration away from the nest where they had access to their food, they crawl throughout the attic space by the thousands and some of them get to close to a ceiling penetration and get sucked out and fall into the living space and become airborne.
They may be right above your bed while you are sleeping or above the kitchen and fall on to food preparation surfaces or even while you are relaxing on the couch in front of the TV. The first signs of having rat mites or fleas, is you notice itching around your waistline, arms and back, or fleas will attack your feet and ankles.
What is the Solution to Stop Rodents & Rodent Parasites?
When we determine that rodent parasites are attacking, we set up a plan to quickly stop the problem, the following will detail the process.
Rat Exterminator Inspections
Our licensed rodent control inspector will inspect the attic space to first determine if you do in fact have rodents living in the structure and not some other issue. He will be looking for evidence of rodent activity such as rat or mouse droppings, rodent nests, live or dead rodents, rodent footprints, or grease marks.
The inspector will then begin a through inspection in the kitchen and other areas of the interior of the structure, then move to the exterior where he will be looking for rodent access points such as broken vents, pipe holes and any other gaps or openings that would allow a rodent to freely gain access to the interior.
Rat Proof the Structure
After you have reviewed the quote and decide to approve the project our rat proofing crew will schedule an appointment to come out and professionally seal up all exterior rodent access points to stop rodents from entering the structure.
At the same time rodents that are inside the attic space, walls and sub-area are now trapped inside and cannot get out, the rats are now sealed inside and blocked from the outside from getting in, your house is now rat proofed.
Quickly Trap all Rodents
Now that the structure is rat proofed, we must set up rat traps in key locations to quickly trap and remove all rodents from the attic space, walls, and sub-area. We will return by appointment to service the rat traps until we are sure there are no more rats inside your home.
This process normally takes two to three visits to completely remove all rodents. In some cases, it may take a little longer, but we always get all the rodent.
Clean & Sanitize the Attic Space
When we have determined that your house is completely rat proofed and all rodents have been successfully removed, we recommend cleaning & sanitizing the attic space, during the time rodents were inside your attic space they were contaminating the insulation with rodent feces and bacteria laden rat urine.
The attic space may also be infested with blood sucking parasites such as rat fleas and tropical rat mites, these parasites will be cleaned out when the attic space is cleaned & sanitized.
Treat the Interior for the rat flea or tropical rat mites
Now that the attic space has been cleaned & sanitized there still be fleas or rat mites inside the living space, we will treat the interior for these pests to help eliminate all sources and restore your home to a beautiful living space without worry of animal and insect pests invading and possibly causing harm to you and your family.
Rodents Living Outside
So, your home has been rodent proofed, and all rodents removed, and any contamination created by infesting rodents and insect parasites have been cleaned up. We recommend turning our attention to the rodents living outside.
Rodents outside are not affected by your home being rat proofed, in fact they are still living out there and still climbing on the roof, running along the wires and trees touching your home, they are running along the fence line and living in ground burrows in your garden. Its just a matter of time before they exploit and open door or window or even chew a new hole to gain access back inside.
Exterior Rodent Control Service Plan
We have developed an exterior rodent control service plan to quickly and efficiently get rid of rats outside your home and keep them away and keep rodent populations under control and to help reduce the chance rodents will reinfest your property.
Your inspector will evaluate your property and recommend a service plan that will meet your specific needs.

Rat Proof Structures
The best way to end a rodent infestation in your home or business is to “Rat Proof” the structure. Rat Proofing the structure is making sure all exterior openings are completly sealed so rats can not get back inside. We use materials that make it extremly hard for rats to chew and make new holes.

Rat Control Outside
Rat Proofing the structure is only part of the over all rodent control project. You still have rats outside crawling all over the roof and running around in the garden. Rats outside may enter through an open door or window and may damage patio furniture or other items outside.

Attic Cleaning
When rats have been inside the structure for a period of time they most likley have been living in the attic space. While in the attic space they have urinated and left behind rat droppings all of which contain harmful virus and bacteria that makes your home a bio-hazard area and unsafe for you and your family. We can clean & sanitize the attic space.
Why Rats Are Dangerous
RAT EXTERMINATOR FOR RATS IN YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS
Rat Exterminator Technicians From American Rat Control Inc.®
when rats are in your attic space, or down in the crawl space below your floor, they are technicaly in your home. Because the way most houses are constructed, rats have access to the attic space and the sub-crawl space bellow your feet.
The most common way rats travel from the attic space to the sub-area is in the wet walls of your home, meaning the walls behind your sinks, your bathtub, and any walls where water and sewer pipes travel through. To a rat it is like a ladder, they climb up and down to get to the attic space and sub-crawl space, sometimes you may hear them in walls.
Rats In The Walls are Still Inside
Rat Exterminator from American Rat Control Inc.®
If rats are in the walls they are in your home, and if not handled in a trimly manner they will eventually make their way into the living space of your home, such as the kitchen, or even into your bedroom while you are sleeping.
Just because you may not see them, and only hear them, does not mean they are harmless, in fact, they are doing great harm, they are in the walls and ceiling chewing on wires, insulation and your A/C ducting and leaving virus, bacteria, that may get you and your family sick.
RATS CARRY FLEAS AND MITES
Rat Exterminators Can Eliminate Fleas & Mites
Rats are well known carriers of fleas and rat mites, when rats build a nest in your attic space or walls, they are living in a nest full of fleas and mites and these parasite insects are happily feeding off the rats and their young.
At any given time, 90% of the rat mites or rat flease are in the nesting material, the other 10% are on the rat feeding. When rats leave the nest, they are leaving a lot of hungry parasites behind, eventually the parasites will migrate away from the nest looking for a blood meal.
Rat mites and rat fleas will crawl through the attic space looking for a new host, and if they get to close to a ceiling penetration such as a recessed light fixture or ceiling fan they will fall through and become airborne in the living space of your home, they may land on your bed, your couch or even food prep areas.
They are floating around looking for a blood meal, they will feed off of adults, children and pets.
Rat Mites & Fleas drop through ceiling penetrations above your head.

Rat Exterminator Vs. Bug Man!
Rat Exterminators and Pest Control Bug Companies are like an Electrician and a Plumber, you would not hire and electrician to fix your leaky faucet. Pest Control companies are great at getting rid of insects but have trouble with rats and mice. Getting rid of rats takes a commitment of time and effort that most bug companies do not have.
